Question 2
How does your media product represent particular social groups?
The character in my film would fit in with the nerd social group this is shown by her Transformers jumper which only a fan of the film would wear and this also shows she's proud to be a fan as she's in public. But she doesn't look like your everyday nerd, she's a little different. She doesn't wear glasses or have braces, she looks like a normal girl.
In Transformers the character Mikaela Banes is represent with the popular group as she is very pretty, however she is a car mechanic which surprise the audience. This is what I wanted to achieve a character that was more than meets the eye.
My film represents the nerd social group as something that you should be proud of and that even though some people might not look like a nerd they could possibly be one. my film doesn't make fun of nerds which most films do, it makes the audience (who are nerds) feel more relaxed.

Question 7
Looking back at your preliminary task what do you feel you have learnt in the progression from it to full product?
I have embedded both my Preliminary Task and my Final media product. Throughout the course, I have learnt a lot about the research, planning, filming, editing, which helped me create a film.
Here I have bullet pointed issues with my preliminary and the improvement in my final film.
Issues with my preliminary task (Hell at home):
- Only had 2 people on set to help
- Did not have a tri pod.
- Some shots looked shaky
- The setting is in my kitchen, which is not great as its not very scary.
- Jump-Cuts - not smooth cuts
- No soundtrack or sound effects
- The lighting was not great
- In a shot you can see i'm not sat in the chair (0:53)
Final film (Iridescent). Examples of improvement:
- Good continuity
- The soundtrack is in sync with the shots
- No Jump Cuts
- Effective titles - (0:00 - 0:06) which make it look like a real film opening
- Good lighting (builds up tension as its dark)
- Lots of codes for the audience ( 1:05 the dog is ripping a stick up showing something bad going to happen)
- Good use of mise en scene (0:32 a fence show to character is trapped)
Skills I have improved on:
- Use of scripts and storyboards enabled me to be more organised into what I was filming on the specific day.
- Wider variety of shots - close ups, high/low angle shots, long shots, medium shots.
- Better knowledge of using software: IMovie and GarageBand
- More people on set to help

Alien Hand

I wanted to make my own alien hand as it would be unique, and different to others. I was inspired by Stanley Winston, who was an American visual effects supervisor, makeup artist, and film director.
He was best known for his work in the Terminator series, the Jurassic Park series, Aliens, Predator and Avatar. He won four Academy Awards for his work.

Ideas for my soundtrack
I looked at this video for ideas for my soundtrack, I liked how he made a story by only using sound. The sounds he used build up lots of tension and it had a creepy feel to it. I will use similar sounds in my film as I want the same creepy/scary effect.
Possible shooting problems
Weather - As I'm filming outside I need to check the weather, so it doesn't start raining thorough filming as I would have to stop. and possibly start again. This would set filming back and waste time that could be used effectively. If the wind is strong, it will make it hard to hear the actors talk so i will pre record everything. Traveling with equipment - As I'm walking to a wood I will need to be careful that the camera or tripod does not get damaged.
